THE COACHING MODEL IS PROVEN

That modelcoaching for successis being utilized more and more by people from all walks of life who find themselves wanting and needing change. A Life Coach's role is to facilitate a person's own learning, discovery, growth and change. In short, a Life Coach empowers a person to find answers within that lead to greater success in the fullest living of life. IS COACHING FOR ME?

HOW COACHING WORKS

In the Coaching partnership, it's the job of the Life Coach to create trust, listen, focus, raise the questions, introduce new practices, follow up, care, and respect.
There is chemistry between a Coach and a Coaching Client, so an effective Coach for one person may not be so for another. Meeting and/or speaking, and experiencing the style of the Coach is key to finding a good match. Feeling comfortable is the first step to developing the trust needed to do the work.
A typical Life Coaching process for a private coaching client includes:
- Free 30-minute consultation
- Subsequent sessions of 45 minutes in length, 1-3 per month
- New approaches to practice in between sessions
- Email support, sharing of progress, as needed
- Occasional brief check-in calls, if desired
Coaching is very effective for short-term change. At the same time, significant learning often takes time. Many people choose to work with a coach for 6-12 months.
COACHING IS LIKE GARDENING

Gardening is a useful metaphor for Coaching. We understand wanting our gardens to blossom at their fullest potential. We know the most bountiful outcomes are achieved when gardeners are attentive to all factors -- sun and shade, the right flowers and plants, soil condition, nutrients, water, weeding, overall care. This is Coaching.
Coaching encompasses all these facets of our life "garden." With a Coach, you can expect to ”dig around” the multiple facets of yourself, excavate new possibilities, create a more expansive "lifescape" and yield an optimal harvest.

A SYMBOLIC COACHING STORY

There's a Hole in My Sidewalk -- Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
Portia Nelson
Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost.... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter Two
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in ... it's a habit ... but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter Four
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter Five
I walk down another street.

BRADY'S COACHING PHILOSOPHY
As a Life Coach, my work's importance lies in helping you BECOME more of who you truly are, FEEL more present in your daily living, FUNCTION more skillfully and CREATE a life fully encompassing your own goals, passions, priorities and talents.
NOT THERAPY/
NOT CONSULTATION
Life Coaching assumes that the Coachee is well, not broken, and therefore does not need to be fixed. It assumes that the Coachee is resourceful and whole. And Life Coaching is not an assessment of your problems to which the Coach responds with answers. Rather, the Life Coach facilitates your change and supports your discovery of the answers and solutions that exist within you.

To be nobody but yourself
In a world which is doing its best
Night and day
To make you everybody else;
Is to fight the hardest battle
-- e. e. cummings
